BiTMICRO Massive Solid State Drive Pushes 1.6 Terabytes

Solid state drives have several advantages over conventional hard drives, but one of the factors holding back the SSD format is the lack of capacity. BiTMICRO is totally addressing this issue with their latest development, creating the 1.6TB Ultra320 SCSI SSD.

Yes, you read that correctly. This solid state drive comes packed with an incredible 1.6 terabytes of data capacity, far surpassing BiTMICRO's previous accomplishment: the 832GB SSD that was shown off at CES 2008 in Las Vegas. Sustained data transfer speeds are quite impressive, moving those 1s and 0s at up to 230MB/sec.

I imagine that the pricing will be through the roof -- just take a look at the SSD option on the Macbook Pro -- so you may be better off considering the 16GB version that BiTMICRO plans on launching in Q3 2008.
